Just Drift's 2012 Top Drift rd 1

Just Drift had its 1st round of Top Drift for 2012 on March 25 at the Balcony track of Willow Springs International Raceway. There was a good amount of attendance of drivers, spectators and fans.

There were a lot of good drivers who were getting good runs during practice.

They were all set and tuned for the day.

Drivers getting good angles and giving out smoke.

But some drivers like John Batel had car issues even before qualifying runs.

There were a lot of different platforms for this round. It varies from stock KA to V8's.

I believe that there is only one car on this round who drifts with a 4-door, Cressida.

But as the practice runs were almost over and qualifying runs was about to start, it started to rain.

That made the qualifying runs more interesting.

The qualifying runs were so unpredictable that a lot of drivers who were doing good during practice were spinning out on their qualifying runs since they were all tuned to drift on dry pavement.

Overall, the season opener of Top Drift was a success. Congratulations to George Kilada (1st place), Dan Giraldo (2nd place) and Dan Brockett (3rd place). We can not wait for the next round! (Photos by: Richard Fadera)

Ryan Fadera Geared Up for 2012 Top Drift rd 1

Ryan Fadera called me yesterday asking if we can do a quick photo shoot of him and his Nissan 240sx drift car. I have a scheduled photo shoot that day but squeezed in a quick 10 minute shoot with him.

Ryan is physical therapist during the week but a pro-am drifter during the weekend. Ryan is also the founder of R.A.D. Experience which organizes drifting events in southern California. Ryan is all geared up in preparation for the 1st round of Top Drift. He is also planning to complete all through out the season.

Ryan Fadera Drifting for Kumho Tires Promotional Video

Ryan Fadera and the RAD Experience staff went to Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond Calif. on March 11, 2012 to drift for the promotional video of Kumho Tires.

We got at the racetracks 8:00am and unloaded the truck at the Horse Thief Mile track. The commercial shoot will be using 3 different tracks - The Balcony, Horse Thief Mile and the Oval.

Ryan checking the tire pressure before entering the track.

Everything is ready and we got the go signal from the production.

Ryan did several laps drifting Horse Thief Mile for the video staff to have different angles and point of views.

And did some donuts around the audio guy to get the engine roaring and tires screeching recorded.

After doing several laps at the Horse Thief Mile, we need to replace new tires to run the Balcony.

There are actually more pictures from the shoot but we can not post it until the official video is released to the public. This post will be updated as soon as we get the go signal from Kumho Tires. You need watch out for the video since there are some cool ideas that were thrown in the promo video.
